Karen began her ministry at St. John’s in 2020. She attended Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley, CA, and was ordained to the priesthood in 2016. Prior to ordained ministry, Karen was an elementary music school teacher, served five years on active duty in the USAF, and began a long, challenging career raising five children as a stay-at-home mom. Her family is uniquely diverse, which has helped form her theology around beloved community. Karen graduated from Shenandoah College and Conservatory of Music in Winchester, VA, and Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley, CA. She loves to sing, play piano, do jigsaw puzzles, and play with her grandchildren.
We belong to the Diocese of El Camino Real under Bishop Lucinda Ashby.
We share our priest with St. Stephen’s in-the-Field Episcopal Church in South San Jose, so while we have services every Sunday our priest, Rev. Karen Cuffie, alternates every-other-Sunday between the two churches. On Sundays when Rev. Karen is at St. Stephen’s, we have a visiting priest or a service of Morning Prayer.
